Recognize and use the emotional lines you already know by ear from K-dramas — 사랑해요, 보고 싶어요, 울지 마요 — and understand their casual 반말 counterparts.
해요체 — safe to say to anyone, including someone you're not that close with yet, like a new partner.
반말 — casual. This is the version confessed in almost every drama finale and sung in almost every ballad. Say it to someone close; to a stranger, use 사랑해요 instead.

Everything up to now has been 해요체 — safe with anyone. Starting here, you'll meet 반말, the casual style close friends, couples, and family use with each other. You'll recognize it because it drops the polite -요 ending. Use 반말 with close friends, in fandom spaces, or just to understand dramas and songs — but never with a stranger, a first meeting, or anyone older you don't know well. Get that wrong and it can sound rude. When in doubt, add the 요 back.
Why? The pattern: just drop 요
Most 해요체 verbs (ending in -아요/어요/여요) become 반말 by simply removing 요. 사랑해요 → 사랑해. 미안해요 → 미안해. That's it — no new conjugation to learn, just a shorter, more intimate version of what you already know. This is why you'll suddenly understand so much more drama dialogue once you notice it.
